stones in my pockets

Much of my recent tangling has taken place within a journal, thanks to being caught up in the Tangled and Journaled Facebook group and their Little Summer Project.  I've enjoyed following the prompts and working within a journal has been a new, challenging and only infrequently frustrating process.  That particular project has come to an end, so I'm looking forward to getting back to work on some loose tiles.

The first of which was a tile for this week's Diva prompt - a guest post by Jane Reiter who invites us to tangle with the wonder of Petoskey stones held in mind.  I did, but perhaps they rattled around a bit too much, because their influence was a little lost by the end!  I pencilled a light hexagonal grid and then added a 6 sectioned variation of Moonpie.

Until I have something more current to share with you, I'll offer you a set of green tiles I finished a couple of months ago - companion pieces to the grey and honey tiles I posted way back in May.

I've also had the thrill of being involved in another Mosaik Project - where I sent this tile to Annette -

which she then turned into wonders like this -

only far more fabulous as her mosaics also involved the work of 28 other tanglers.  Follow the button to see the results and go on, join in with the next one when it is announced at the end of October!

  1. Wow! This is all wonderful Jem! I love the floral pattern that emerged on your Diva tile. It inspires me to keep going with the hexagons. Your green series is so elegant. I love the tone on tone. The stand-out is definitely the mosaic. Amazing!

    1. The floral effect surprised me too Michele. I'm feeling a second go at the Diva challenge coming over me too - I think I can see a way to increase the hexiness (if such a word existed!).

  2. I like all the different papers you are tangling on. It seems like they come already colored. What's the texture of the paper? Your response to the guest Zentangle Diva challenge looks like it could be a piece of fabric---very cool. I also really like your green tiles and it sounds like you've done a series based on difference colors, making you the Picasso of Tangledom. I hope I can remember to try to be able to participate in the next group Zentangle mosaic project. Your individual tile is beautiful and the mosiac is truly awesome---a word I don't use lightly.

    1. Thank you for your comment Suzanne. Yes, the paper is pastel paper - it comes in a wide range of colours, some bright, some calmer. It's got a slight texture on one side, and is smoother on the other, but the pens work very well on it, and it takes pencil, coloured or graphite very well.

  4. I think with this week's DIVA challenge almost anything goes as long as it is somewhat roundish and has lines. And yours meets the criteria perfectly and beautifully. The interesting green tiles forced me to visit the 'other' page and I have to say, the audiobook honey pastel paper tiles are SUPERB!!!!!
